Hradec Kralove

We had training this week and Elder Beazer and I had MLC the day before so we stayed in Prague for the night with Elder Chadwick and Elder Carlson. We had dinner with Sebastian at this way nice restaurant where they would bring out a new piece of pizza every couple of minutes and you could try it. That night it was pouring rain and we got back to the apartment of the Elders in Prague and when we walked in we noticed water dripping from the ceiling so we went upstairs and the floor was soaked! They left the ceiling windows open and it rained all day so we were got all the towels we could find (only one) and tried to clean it up before we went to bed. One thing that was pretty funny, Elder Beazer wanted to try a new way of contacting so we go up to this couple and he says "Today we are asking every Czech one question" The couple says "Good thing we are from Slovakia" then started laughing and walked away! haha I was laughing so hard but Elder Beazer just stood there way embarrassed. There was also a big festival on the square so they had a buch of markets which was fun. It was right outside our window so it was pretty loud all weekend.

Hradec Kralove

So this week was pretty sick. Last pday we went to Kuks on a trip with the district. We also went on a 3 day exchange with 2 young men from the ward and it was way fun. It helped so much with Czech. Also Elder Andrus came for an exchange and I was the one who trained him so it was good to see him again. We found a really cool girl while waiting for a lesson to show up and invited her to church so she came and stayed all three hours and loved it. The ward was pumped to see her at church. In the middle of church this week a bird flew into the chapel and started flying around the building. It flew into the back room and we hear it slam into the window twice so I decide to go get it out and I walk in the room and it is just laying on the floor and it looked dead. Elder Beazer was dying cause he thought it was way funny but I was like I gotta get this bird out of here before the little kids see it but when I opened the window it hopped up and flew out so I guess it wasn't dead. lol

Hradec Kralove

So this week was pretty packed. Turns out we have pday to day because our exchange with the young men got changed to the second half of the week so we will be with them starting Wednesday.
On Tuesday we went to Prague for training and our mission president gave a really good training on the Light of Christ. As a mission we are all reading 17 pages a day outside of personal study so every spare minute we have we are reading in the Book of Mormon. The stake president came to our training and promised us that as we build our spirituality people would start seeking us out instead of us having to try so hard to find them. The very next day we were reading in the Book of Mormon at 9 and we got a call from a less active that we have been trying to meet with ever since I have been in HK but she never would. She asked if we could meet and give her a blessing the next day. So we meet her at the library and she sits down and asked if we could give her a blessing right there. We were like there are a lot of people and its kinda loud do you want to go somewhere else so she takes us outside on the bench that is right next to a main road and a ton of people are walking next to us but we were like whatever she needs a blessing so we will give it to her. So we gave her a blessing on the side of the street and she said we could meet next week. haha
We also got to go to Olomouc again for an exchange. I was with a new Elder there and it was so much fun to be back in Olomouc. I ran into to former investigators that I taught when I was there and they still remembered me so it was pretty cool. Yesterday we were tracting and this guy comes out and says I am atheist I don't have interest but we talked to him for a while and we were just kinda joking around with him cause he was a bro dad then I was like well can we meet and share our message or what and he was like sure I have time on Thursday.
So it was a pretty good week. I hope things are going well for everyone back home.

Hradec Kralove

Good week. We went to Liberec to go to their district meeting and did a singing display after. It was pretty cool cause we found a lot of people for the Elders in Liberec. Our investigators have been making a lot of progress this week. One guy that we have been meeting with had a problem with smoking, he would smoke 10 cigarettes a day but we taught him the word of wisdom on Friday and he is already down to just 4 a day so things are going well for him. Sports day was really good this week because we invited this guy to play with us then when we had our spiritual thought at the end he started asking me all of the questions. Turns out he is a JW but doesn't really like the church here so we talked a lot about our church and what we believe. He is coming again next week and we will hopefully get him to come to church soon.
Oh we also had a pretty awkward experience this week cause we went back to the moms house that we tracted into this week and knocked the door but this lady came out and we were like hey we talked to a different lady from Ukraine here on Sunday and she told us to come back today. She was like nobody from Ukraine lives here. I thought she was lying so I was like come on we were here on Sunday and talked to her. But she still kept saying no and so finally we were like whatever and left. As soon as she went back inside I realized that we were at the wrong house. I felt so bad! The mom wasn't even home either so I guess we will try again.
We also got a less active to come to our game night and teach us a new song on the guitar. I didn't really get it though it was way too hard for me.
Anyways have a great week!

President Hinckley about missionary work in the last days said: ‘’Our hope concerning the future is big and our faith is strong. We know that we have barely touched the surface of what will come in the coming years, and what lies ahead of us. Our burden on the path ahead of us is big. But our opportunity is amazing. (Gordon B. Hinckley. “Look to the future” 1997)

Hradec Kralove

This week was pretty good. We went to Prague for a few meeting with Pres.
Our investigators are doing well and have been coming to church so that is good. We had a lesson with a girl from Brazil, she is the one that doesn't speak English very well and no Czech at all but she came back and said that she believes that the Book of Mormon is true but she doesn't want to skype with Elders in Brazil cause she says she understands us but we know she doesn't.
We also went to Jicin this weekend to give baptismal interviews to a family. It was really cool, the kids are so prepared. Pretty funny, on the way we stopped at KFC to get lunch and you would think that after being here for so long that I could order some food with no problem but I went through the drive thru and ordered 8 chicken strips and the lady said that will be 750kc. I was like no way she probably just said 175 and I misunderstood. So we go and I pay with card and she says wait in the parking lot and we will bring it out. So we are waiting a while and she finally comes out and hands Elder Beazer this giant bag. He is like wow this is really heavy what did you order? We look in and the receipt says 750kc and there are 8 twisters which are like chicken burritos. So we ate them all... haha so yeah things are going well here. Have a great week. God loves you.

Hradec Kralove

Pretty random but the other day we were out contacting and this family stopped us and said, you guys are the JWs right? And we were like no we are the mormons. But he was just joking cause turns out he is a bishop from Texas and he was visiting his daughter here so they took us to get KFC. We also got invited over to a members house for dinner. That stuff doesn't usually happen here in the Czech Republic. We had a way good lesson with a family. About a month ago Elder Beazer and I were on an exchange and we tracted this guys house and he came out and said that he didn't have time because his dad died the day before. We testified about eternal families and he told us that we could come back after the funeral and everything so we finally went back and set up a time that we could teach him. We had a really good lesson with him about the plan of salvation and he is really prepared. He told us that he wants his kids to have hope in their lives so that they never have to feel the way he felt when his parents died. And of course his kids were running around the yard naked cause it wouldn't be a Czech family if that didn't happen. Turns out he was also a pro hockey player for the Czech Republic for 25 years so I talked with him about hockey for a while.
This week we also went to Olomouc to visit a district meeting there which was fun because we got to contact in Olomouc again! I miss that place so much. We also got to have lunch with Sara and it was good to see that she is teaching with the missionaries and helping a lot in the branch.
Elder Beazer and I were driving home from tracting the other day and we drove past a lake, we were both looking at the water thinking about how nice it would be to go to the lake when all of the sudden this girl moons us... lol that was pretty interesting. Oh and we met this girl that doesn't speak English very well but we sent her a text asking what time she could meet and she replied with the picture that I attached... lol she meant to say Ill warn you.
So as you can see things are going pretty well. I hope you all have a great week.

Hradec Kralove

Well the first of the transfer went pretty well. We have seen a lot of success so far. The other day we had a really funny lesson, we were teaching this guy and showed him the video "The Hope of Gods Light" and he actually started crying. It's pretty unusual for Czech men to cry. So it was pretty spiritual then in the middle of the lesson he pulls out a liter of milk and starts chugging it!! haha Elder Beazer and I almost lost it.
Faith in Jesus Christ is a gift from heaven that comes as we choose to believe and as we seek it and hold on to it. If we do not use the faith that God has given us, we can never build that faith.
Have a great week.

Hradec Kralove

So today is transfer day but I am staying in HK so I don't have to move and Elder Beazer is my new comp so he just has to move from his apartment to mine. Its been pretty nice. I am pumped to serve with him.
This last week was pretty good though. We were contacting people on the street and we stopped this lady to talk about Eternal Families and turns out she has been having a really hard time because her parents died not too long ago and she started crying on the street and thanking us for how much our message helped her that day. Also our investigator that is a professional soccer player came to our sports night on Saturday and played soccer with us. It was way fun, he worked me so hard. haha I thought I was pretty good at soccer until I played with him... lol
We also went to Karlstejn as a mission because that is where the Czech Republic was dedicated for missionary work. It was pretty cool to be there again plus I got to see all of the homies that I have served with in the past. That is about all though.

Hradec Kralove

This week was another long hot week because all of our investigators dropped us so we were out on the streets for 9 hours straight everyday. It also rained a ton!! One day we were coming home and these drunk guys that we were JW's so they started yelling at us but I talked to them for a bit and and they end they were like oh wow mormons are pretty cool can we get a pic with you. So we got a pic and they sent it to us.
We had a pretty cool experience with a young guy, we were on a bus contacting and we talked to him for a while and he just kinda laughed and said no so we went to the next person. We had to transfer to a different bus in the middle of no where and the guy that we talked to was the only other guy there. We sat down on a bench by him. He looked up, then looked me in the eyes and said God doesn't exist. Nothing is up there. I looked back at him and said I know that God is there and that He loves you. The Spirit was so strong and he started asking questions. We taught him the Plan of Salvation and about prayer. It was pretty crazy to see the change of heart that he had.
Transfers are next week so I guess we will see what happens. Have a great week.

Hradec Kralove

So this week wasn't the best week for our investigators cause we were supposed to have 2 people get baptized this week but neither of them are going to make it and one of them is moving out of the country so we wont even see him again. Also because it is a college town and school is now over, everyone is going home and the streets are empty. Elder Beazer and I were on an exchange this week though and we went tracting, this guy came out and said sorry I have people visiting I can't talk right now. So we said we just have a short message about eternal families. He told us that his dad died the day before so we taught him about the plan of salvation and asked him to pray. It was really spiritual lesson and hopefully we will be able to visit after the funeral and everything. We gave up our dinner hour and have been waking up at 5:30 all week so that we can have more time to contact. We are really trying to find a family so we are doing everything we can. Other than that it has just been normal missionary work.
God bless America!

Hradec Kralove

So things actually just keep getting crazier and crazier here on the mish... the lady that was supposed to be baptized last transfer but got possessed by a devil actually came to church early and gave my companion a bag full of tea and a letter in it and told him to read it when he is alone. So of course as soon as she left we opened it up and it basically said that if he doesn't leave his mission he will die and that he needs to pray in a different way and drink the tea to be healed. So yeah that happened. Also while tracting this week we rang this doorbell and this guy got really mad and told us to do some bad things to ourselves. lol so I said "We are sharing a message about families" Then he said it again so I said "Why?" he was like do you want me to go get a gun then he ran inside and came out with a machine gun!!! Elder Gubler ran but I just stood there and said what did we do wrong? Are you really going to shoot me when I haven't done anything wrong? He cocked the gun back and pointed it at me then he said if you ever come back I will shoot you, and don't ring my neighbors doorbell either. So I looked him in the eyes and said have a nice day then walked up to his neighbors door and rang the doorbell. haha he didn't shoot be though. I'll end with a good story thought don't worry! haha we do service at a catholic church every week and the priest left us alone for a while so we took some pics...
Oh also our ward mission leader gave me this sick birthday card.

Hradec Kralove

I don't have a lot of time but things are going well. The area here is turning around and we finally got some people to come to church so things are good. We have been meeting with a less active member and his friend that isn't a member. They are the coolest guys and they play pro soccer so we got permission to go to their game on Saturday and then on Sunday the less active came to church but his friend got injured in the game so he couldn't come. They lost pretty bad but Kingsley the member got 2 goals so that was pretty sick.
We also taught a lesson with the bishop here this week and it was a really cool lesson. We taught the word of wisdom and ya know basically just told him what it is and why we have it but then the bishop said "Not partaking of these substances is obvious, they harm our bodies. The real purpose behind the word of wisdom is keeping ourselves healthy so that we are able to serve others. If we are not healthy we need help and can not help others." I had never really thought of the word of wisdom in that way and it was really cool to think about it like that. The greatest joy comes from serving others so we must be physically able to serve others.

Have a great week.

Hradec Kralove

This week was great!! The weather is great so people are a little more willing to talk to us! It so hot and it is barely June so I'm a little worried for July and August cause I will probably die. We found a few more students this week and they are way cool. Unfortunately they are just studying here and are from a bunch of different countries but we will still baptize them and then send em back to their countries. Because a lot fo students don't speak Czech here, we have been teaching a Czech class and we gave one of the students a Book of Mormon and he came back the next week and said he wanted to be baptized so we will see how it goes with the school year ending and what not cause he is going to need to come to church and everything before he leaves. The stake president came to Hradec this week and we had a meeting with him to talk about the missionary work here. It was a pretty cool experience to talk with him again. Yesterday I cut my leg and it wouldn't stop bleeding for 2 hours so that was an experience. I'll send pics.

Just remember this when times get hard. It's always worth it to stay strong.
“Ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ,” Nephi said to members of the church, “having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.” (2 Ne. 31:20.) That is to say—all the faithful Saints, all of those who have endured to the end, depart this life with the absolute guarantee of eternal life. There is no equivocation, no doubt, no uncertainty in our minds. Those who have been true and faithful in this life will not fall by the wayside in the life to come. If they keep their covenants here and now and depart this life firm and true in the testimony of our blessed Lord, they shall come forth with an inheritance of eternal life.

Hradec Kralove

This week has been great! It was my first week in HK. The area was pretty dead when I got here but I'm pretty use to that now. Basically every area I've been sent to has been pretty dead when I got there. We have already seen a lot of success though. The other day we set up with a mom for tomorrow and then we called this guy and he said he couldn't meet cause he lost his passport and had to search the city to find it so we said we would pray for him to find it. The next day he sent a text and said that he found it and that he has time to meet. We had a really spiritual lesson and he said he wants to get baptized so hopefully he will be able to come to church next week. HK has a lot of students and it is time for final tests so they are really busy. The ward is awesome here. We have a lot of families and little kids so it is a lot of fun. Our ward mission leader is a young return missionary so he has a lot of fire in him and gets a lot of work done.
On Saturday we had sports night with members and investigators. A bunch of way good soccer players came so it was way intense. I haven't had this much pain in my legs since hockey. It doesn't help that the next day we didn't have any lessons so we tracted and contacted all day. The weather is super nice though so I love being outside and talking to people. Also Elder Gubler and I have started a band and we are doing pretty well...

Frydek-Mistek

This week was great. Our investigator that was in prison is free!! We found a new mom that wants to be baptised and we had stake conf yesterday so I got to see all of the members and investigators from my old areas.
We had a lesson with the mom that was supposed to get baptised this week. Turns out her son got his tooth knocked out and he was bleeding all over the place. She said that in that moment she had no faith and so she didn't think that she could be baptised because her faith wasn't strong enough. We felt prompted to show her the video of Joseph Smith when he prays in the forest and Satan tries to stop him. We talked to her about how Satan will always try to stop us from doing something that will bring us closer to God. That really helped her see that she still has faith and wants to be baptised but we told her that we want her to come to church at least 2 more times before baptism so that she will be more prepared. So things are still going well for her.
Transfers are next week so we will see what happens.
I just want to testify that no matter what trials we are going through, we can always over come them and the blessings will come. God will never leave us to go through these things alone. Jesus already did that for us so that we wouldn't have to. I know that God loves us and knows what we can handle. Have a great week!

This week was pretty sick. The elephants were out in the field again so we went and fed them. Elder Cardon and I had a lecture and a school again. It was pouring rain and our tram had a delay so we were sprinting to this school and when we finally got there they sent us a text saying it got moved to the other side of the city so we had to sprint all over the place looking for this school. We finally got there and we were soaking wet and out of breath but this lecture was even better than the last one. They gave us a box of chocolates at the end. haha We also set up a trip with the YSA and that was really fun. We got 3 less active YSA to come with us so it was pretty successful. The mom we have been teaching was supposed to get baptized this week but we have stake conference so we moved it back a week. She had her interview and everything but then something happened on Saturday and I think her kid is in the hospital. We don't really now what is going on but we are gonna wait until she can come to church a few more times before she gets baptized.
Elder Cardon and I have offically served in the same district for 1 year straight! Pretty crazy.
Have a great week. God love you!

Frydek-Mistek

Hey everybody!
This week we did another "Uklidme Cesko" service project and we ran into a bunch of cows so of coarse I sat down and chilled with them for a while. We had a bbq with all of the people after and they were all interested in our church and why we are here. It was pretty fun. It was snowing on Wednesday but we had the town square reserved to put a tv out and blast the Easter video so we still did it even though it was snowing. We had it echoing throughout the whole center of Mistek and so many people stopped to watch and talk with us.
We didn't have any contact with the mom that has a baptismal date and she didn't come to church so we were freaking out all week trying to figure out what to do but finally on Sunday we prayed that we would see her outside with her kids and after a little while of waiting outside in the pouring rain we finally see her walk by so we went and talked to her and had a good lesson. She was having a pretty rough week and was scared to talk to us because she wasn't sure if she was ready for baptism but we talked with her and figured everything out. Also we called our guy in prison to see how his court date went and from the sounds of it he is getting deported so we are going to go visit him this week and see what is going on. We also came out of the train station the other day and there were 3 elephants just eating this tree. So we went and got some pictures of them then went home. Pretty interesting stuff happens here... It was a way stressful week with all of that but it ended alright.

We also went with Bishop to bless the sacrament at an elderly couples home and they gave us this drink that tastes and smells like coffee but it doesn't have coffee beans or caffeine. Elder Andrus looked a little confused but drank it anyways so I decided to wait until he was about half way done then I leaned over and said hey don't drink that, its coffee. He freaked out and was like I thought I heard Bishop said the word coffee but I wasn't sure, I thought it was just funny tasting hot chocolate! Finally I told him I was just joking and that it wasn't coffee and he felt a lot better. haha he was so confused why Bishop and 2 members were giving us coffee!

So that reminded me of a cool blessing that Elder Packer received while in the military about our bodies.
“You have been given a body of such physical proportions and fitness as to enable your spirit to function through it. … You should cherish this as a great heritage. Guard [it] and protect it. Take nothing into it that shall harm the organs thereof because it is sacred. It is the instrument of your mind and [the] foundation of your character.”

Have a great week and stay healthy.
